Let Me Introduce Myself

I’m Paul Merklein, and I’ve been drawing cartoons since I was 5 years old. My cartoons have been published in newspapers, magazines, books, websites, and even church newsletters.

In 2001, I created my show that combines cartooning, age-appropriate humor, and audience participation.

I performed at festivals, theaters, comic cons, and public stages around the country.  I decided to focus on teaching cartooning at schools and libraries because I enjoy inspiring young people to draw cartoons.

When the COVID pandemic impacted schools and libraries in 2020, I started offering virtual programs. They are now a popular choice for live and recorded programs.

Drawing cartoons engages kids – and adults – immediately when they watch me or draw along with me. Kids create something meaningful they can show to their family and friends.

Because I present programs for schools and libraries, I can adapt to different audiences and ages. Your audience determines the cartoon characters I draw, and you choose the message or topic I talk about.

Whether your program is virtual or in-person, your audience is engaged, entertained and inspired.
